With the advance of in car technology, 4x4s are now seen as the perfect way to spend your money wisely, thanks to all the car you get for the price you pay. In this post we will show you some of the best 4x4s coming to market in 2015.
With more and more people deciding to trade in their hatchbacks or saloon cars for a 4×4 this time of the year, as roads get a little harder to navigate, mostly down to snow, ice, wet and slippery roads, not to mention the odd bad driver, put all this together and owning a 4×4 has never been more appealing. With that in mind, below are some of the best 4x4s we think are coming to the UK this year.
Price: £28,000 (est)
This vehicle is Fords answer to the highly popular Audi Q5 and comes with with a choice of two diesel engines. This vehicle is expected to be on sale in the UK later this year, and is expected to undercut the likes of the Q5, XC60 and the Touareg – meaning this vehicle will more than likely be on sale for around £28,000.
The Edge is loaded with technology, and so it should be with the hefty price tag, but the stand out tech being that this car will be able to park itself, by being able to carry out maneuvers such as parallel and perpendicular parking – meaning you won’t have to worry about you ending up on YouTube as one of the worst parkers in the world. It is worth noting however that this vehicle will only be launched in the UK as four-wheel drive. This may change in the future.
Price: £15,000 (est)
Say hello to the Mazda CX-3, a new SUV that has been designed to appeal to modern 4×4’s such as the Nissan Juke. This vehicle is expected to hit showrooms in April.
The CX-3 will be offered with a 2.0 petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The petrol engines should be producing around 118bhp and 163bhp and the diesel is expected to produce 104bhp. Depending on what you prefer, the CX-3 will be offered in the UK as a 2wd or 4wd, however the all wheel drive system features torque vectoring, the same traction control system that you get in the Mazda CX-5.
Price: Starting at £45,785 (Est)
This new Volvo is expected to blow the likes of the Audi Q5 and the BMW X5 in the the weeds, however it does come with the heavy price tag of £45,785. So, with that price tag, what does it come with and is it worth it?
The exterior of this vehicle boasts metal surrounds on the windows, front spoiler and grille, and some eye catching 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. The interior will feature sports seats that give the most delightful hugs, illuminated door sills and much more.
This vehicle will be offered to the public with several different powertrains, including a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid that will be capable of returning you an outstanding 100mpg, depending on how you drive of course. There is a range topping engine available, that produces 394bhp, just shy of the Audi RS4. Volvo are also going to offer the choice of two other diesel engines – both four-cylinder units that will be badged D4 and D5. The latter produces 222bhp and 347lb ft of torque, and is only available as a four-wheel drive, this engine should return you economy stats of around 47mpg. Entry-level cars will get the 187bhp D4 engine, with 295lb ft of torque, these are front wheel drive only and should achieve up to 56mpg. This vehicle is expected to be on sale around May time.
Mercedes GLE Coupe 2015
Price: £60,000+ (est)
As you’ve probably already seen, this vehicles was showcased at the Detroit Motor Show, and is Mercedes’ answer to BMW’s X6. It is expected to launch in June.
This vehicle is the typical sporty SUV that will no doubt we a hit with the people of Cheshire, this is thanks to it’s sporty appeal on the outside and in. This vehicle has been given sportier suspension and even the gear ratios have been altered to give you more of a sporty feel. You have 5 different driving styles to choose from, including Individual, Comfort, slippery, Sport and Sport+. 4 wheel drive will be standard on this vehicle.
Now lets have a look at what engines are available. The GLE Coupe includes one diesel and two petrol models. The nine-speed – that’s right 9-speed – tronic automatic transmission, comes with with four-wheel drive. The top of the range model of this vehicle is the GLE 450 AMG, this one is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, that produces around 362bhp and 383lb ft of torque. The predicted best seller is the GLE 350d. This one as you’ve probably guessed is the diesel model, and comes with an astonishing 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, producing 254bhp and 457lb ft of torque. This will make it ideal for towing along your caravan in the summer.
2015 Kia Sorento 2.2 CRDi
Price: £29,000 (est)
This is now the third generation of the Kia Sorento, and it just keeps on getting better and better. The new model will include freshened-up styling, steering tweaks and improvements to the chassis. This vehicle also comes with Kia’s superb 7 year warranty.
The Kia Sorento will now have a more appealing interior as well, offering comfortable leather seats, and a stylish dashboard. Why’s it stylish? I’m glad you asked, you get a 8.0 inch touch screen which is easy to navigate and all the other little gadgets this car has to offer are easy to find and use, such as the cabin heating controls.
The Sorento available in the United Kingdom will only come with a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing around 200bhp and 325lb ft of torque.

Of course given the cost, these are by no means every man vehicles, so the much more affordable and tried and tested options such as the Hilux, L200 and Navara are where our love lies (especially as off roaders) but we do love seeing the latest developments in the industry!
